“Books discovered once again” monograph was issued

As the part of the Book World Prague 2016 the monograph named “Books discovered once again” was officially introduces to the audience. The book written by Mgr. Marcela Strouhalova, the historian of the project, is the last output of the first phase of the same named project supported by the EEA grants.

The monograph maps not only the history of the National Library of the Czech Republic in the first half of the 20th Century, but also the legal aspects, how the state bodies handled with the culture artefacts, how the books were transferred in former Czechoslovakia and finally brings the first summarization, how so called Reserved collections of the National Library of the Czech Republic were established and from which sources the books did come. The highly professional editions of the archival documents belongs among the most important parts as well. In the end of the book it is possible to find very detailed photographic documentation – some archival materials and many copies of the founded provenance signs.

The book “Books discovered once again” is the first comprehensive set of information related to the looted books history and the history of state representatives responsible for the book heritage transfers. This significance was highly evaluated by the professional lecturers Prof. JUDr. Jan Kuklík, DrSc. and Doc. PhDr. Mary Mack, Ph. D.
