Educational Programme Creation - Trace the book stories

Published on 16 November 2016

The proposed BFB initiative called “Educational Programme Creation - Trace the book stories” is aimed to realize various activities to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the area of culture heritage between Czech Republic and Norway. It will be realized over the ground scope of the Books discovered once again project.

The “Educational Programme Creation - Trace the book stories” BFB initiative will use some of the achieved results coming from the ground project and also previous initiative “Provenance Signs Research”. The proposed educational program is the next logical step, which helps to enlarge the practical usage of the results. This initiative also brings a great value in the promotion activities, because it enlarges the amount of target groups (students, researchers) and provides various sources for the research and open new information sources connected with Digital Humanities. Because of the involvement of both institutions many targets of the BFB cooperation will be covered, especially:

  • international cooperation strengthening
  • data exchange about the specific topic of European history
  • sharing know-how between Czech and Norwegian institutions
  • international interoperability enhancement

During the project Books discovered once again many interesting and very useful information about the handling with culture history artefacts were found. It was described, how the books were transferred almost all around the Europe, who were their formal owners, why they lost their ownership, which legal standards were used in formal Czechoslovakia for confiscations etc. Some of these results were already publish – via project web page or articles, or will be published in the near future during the physical or virtual exhibit. But that can be judged as the first step. When such a valuable and interesting information with broader context are available, especially about so un-known but very dark part of our history, it does make a huge sense to present this to wider audience, especially to the younger generation that have many times only very limited point of view. From this perspective gives a huge sense to create special educational program, which can be used in both countries to enrich the possibilities of the teachers to promote this period of the culture history – more illustratively, more visual and more contextual – what is still missing gap.
